Northern Zone Rules
- Fishing days will be the first Saturday OR Sunday of the first full week-end except for the Club’s first nominated Zonal day of each month OR the Club’s first competition Saturday or day of each month thereafter. Boats can only fish ONE Northern Zone Day per month except for the Overnight Tournaments to be held in November and May, when boats can fish all week-end.
- Fish must be captured or tagged and released from the Club’s home port or in a NSWGFA sanctioned tournament.
- This competition is ONLY to be fished out of Northern Zone Ports.
- In addition to NSWGFA sanctioned tournaments, a boat may fish a maximum of two (2) Northern Zone Competition days in another Northern Zone Club’s port.
- Captures and Tags must be lodged by the Club either by mail or fax to the Northern Zone Chairman within the month of capture and/or tag and release.
- Each Club is to nominate its five (5) best captures plus five (5) highest pointscoring tag & release boats (on form supplied to Club by Chairman).
- Northern Zone Competition pointscore for Capture will be awarded as follows:
- 200 points for the highest pointscoring capture each day
- 180 points for the second highest pointscoring capture
- 160 points for the third highest pointscoring capture
- Etc. Etc. Etc………
Note: These points are only for determining Champion Club Overall.
- Points will be awarded as per current NSWGFA pointscore. Maximum pointscores will apply.
- Tag and Release points will be awarded as per current NSWGFA pointscore.
- Any fish submitted for the Northern Zone Days must be submitted by a financial Club Member and must be caught on that Club’s Northern Zone Day. Any angler can only submit captures and tags on one (1) Northern Zone Day per month. If the angler fishes on two or more separate days in the month, the first competition day for this angler will only be accepted for Zonal trophies.
- Northern Zone to fish an Overnight Tournament on the week-end of or prior to the full moon in November and May of each fishing year. A trophy for the five highest pointscoring capture boats and a trophy for the five highest pointscoring tag & release boats will be awarded to the winning clubs. November and May Overnight Tournaments will be classified as Northern Zone pointscore days for those months.
- Non-Compliance with the rules will result in loss of capture and/or tag & release points.

Northern Zone Challenge
2006 – 2007
- The competition will be fished under the Angling and Equipment Rules of GFAA, NSWGFA and the Northern Zone.
- The competition will commence on the 1st Saturday of September and finish on the Last Sunday of May the following year.
- Boats may fish either Saturday or Sunday (not both) on any weekend during this period.
- All fish captured or tagged and released must be caught from Northern Zone ports.
- Points will be awarded for FOUR (4) categories:
- Shark
- Marlin
- Tuna
- Other Gamefish
- Points will be awarded for Capture and Tag & Release of the above species as per the rules of NSWGFA pointscore system.
- Points will not be awarded for this competition unless the boat entry is registered with the Zone Chairperson by the Friday prior to the boat taking part in this event.
- Boats must be currently registered with their Northern Zone Club.
- All anglers who effect a tag or capture must be a financial member or Life Member of a Game Fishing Club affiliated with NSWGFA Northern Zone.
- Boat entry fees shall be $20.00 per boat and must be received with the boat entry (or within one week if faxed)
- Copies of all Capture Certificates and Tag Cards MUST be sent to the Northern Zone Chairperson WITHIN 14 DAYS OF CAPTURE OR TAGGING.
